Since you, our readers, are all our friends, we'll be giving out Google+ invites for as long as our hands can type today. Leave a comment with your name and Gmail email (no Google Apps support yet, so don't bother) clearly visible in the comment body, and we'll try to hook you up as soon as we can.
Let the Invite mosh pit begin!
Update #1: OK, there are over 100 responses in less than 5 minutes. This will take me a while. If those of you who got the invite could invite someone in the list, then reply to their comment, we'll get this train moving a lot faster. Thanks, everyone!
Update #2: Alright, after receiving over 800 requests, which ended up crashing the server a few times, I decided to close down the comments. Thankfully, I figured out a way to mass add people to Google+ and after writing a quick script, I was able to weed out all the emails from the comments in the database and send them invites. If you got your invite, congratulations, and if you want to say thank you, just tell your friends who hooked you up.
Update #3: We're hearing from some of you that this time Google is over capacity. If you have your invite, you should be good to go once they re-open registrations.
Update #4: I'm removing all 800+ comments to preserve the privacy of everyone who left an email address in public and to alleviate server load.
Update #5: Here's the new plan - fill out this form, which is private (your email will not be seen by anyone but us), and we'll try our best to invite you. If you get your invite, feel free to spread the Android Police love on Twitter and Facebook, as well as and your friends and family.
Update #6: Google Plus so far = Google + Buzz + +1 + Facebook + Gmail + Google Contacts + Wave + Picasa + Google Profiles + RSS + Skype/gTalk. Mind blown.
Update #7: The invites have been shut down for the day, according to Vic Gundotra, one of Google's top execs. I'll try to send all the invites when Google allows them again.
Update #8: Welcome to Plus Club (via +Joe Lancaster):
Update #9: We won't be able to mass invite until Google re-enables the regular invite functionality. The "workaround" that exists now only works on individual emails and is completely impractical for the 4500+ who left their emails in the form since yesterday.
#1 - The first rule of Plus Club is, you do not talk about Plus Club.
#2 - The second rule of Plus Club is, you DO NOT talk about Plus Club.
#3 - If someone +mentions you, invites you to hang out, shares a Spark with you, you +1 them.
#4 - Put people in relevant Circles.
#5 - As many Circles as you like.
#6 - No Facebookers, no Buzz commoners.
#7 - Plus threads will go on as long as they have to.
#8 - If this is your first night at Plus Club, you have to post.
Update #10 7/6/11: Invites are open again, though this time they're throttled, according to Google. We invited the 6000+ people who submitted their names above, but I'm not sure just how many invites will work. Not much we can do, so if you didn't get in, try asking some of your friends who are already on instead.
Update #11 7/11/11: Invited 731 more people.
Oh, and if you do get in, find Android Police here: http://gplus.to/androidpolice. See you on the other side ;-]
